Jyotirlinga : Jyotirlinga are set of 12 Shiva Temples
spread all over India and considered holiest for Shiva
devotees.
1) Trimbakeshwar near Nashik, Bhimashankar, Off Pune and
Grineshwar near Ellora caves are three temples in Maharashtra.
To add to this there is also Nagnath at
Aundha and Parli Baidyanath that are considered by many one of
the Jyotirlingas.
2) Somnath at Veraval in Gujarat and Nageshwar at Dwarka
some people consider it to be Jyotirling.
3) Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu.
4) Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh.
5) Omkareshwar near Indore and Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain
in Madhya Pradesh.
6) Vaidhanath in Deoghar in Jharkhand.
7) Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi in Uttarpardesh.
8) Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.

How to Visit : These three temples are best visited as
a part of Itinerary (ex-Pune or Ex-Mumbai or Nashik) as
depicted under:

Day 1: Start from Mumbai to Trimbakeshwar (About 150
kms and 200 kms from Pune). After darshan reach Aurangabad by
evening (About another 200 kms).
Day 2: Start from Aurangabad for Grineshwar near Ellora
Caves. After Darshan proceed to Shirdi (144 kms from
Aurangabad). Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Darshan in the evening.
Overnight at Shirdi.
Day 3: From Shirdi visit Bhimashankar. Bhimashankar is
about 150 kms from Shirdi and 130 kms from Pune or 220 kms
from Mumbai.
Optional Extensions :
Aundha Nagnath Temple near Nanded is also considered as a
Jyotirlinga Temple. Above Itinerary can be modified further
(by adding 1 more night) to include Aundha Nagnath Temple.
Guest can also visit the famous Gurudwara at Nanded alongwith
Aundha Nagnath Temple.
Parli Baidyanath Temple at Parli in Dist. Beed (130 kms before
Nanded) is also considered one of the Jyotirlinga Temples by
many.
To cover above extensions following route is recommended.
Starting from Nashik.
Day 1 : Arrival at Nashik. Visit Trimbakeshwar.
Overnight at Nashik or Sinnar.
Day 2 : Shani Shinganapur - Shirdi and overnight at
Bhimashankar (300+ kms)
Day 3 : Bhimashankar - Nanded via Parli (350+ kms)
Day 4 : Visit Aundha and then transfer to Aurangabad
(360 kms),
Day 5 : Visit Grineshwar (30 kms) and return back to
Mumbai/ Pune or any onward destination.
Starting from Pune.
Day 1 : Arrival at Pune- Transfer to Bhimashankar (65
kms). Overnight at Bhimashankar
Day 2 : Transfer to Nashik (160 kms). Trimbakeshwar
visit. Overnight at Nashik or Sinnar.
Day 3 : Shani Shinganapur - Shirdi and overnight at
Ahmadnagar (Total about 300 kms)
Day 4 : Ahmadnagar- Nanded (250 kms) via Parli
Baidyanath Temple. Overnight at Nanded.
Day 5 : Visit Aundha and then transfer to Aurangabad
(Total about 360 kms), Overnight at Aurangabad.
Day 6 : Visit Grineshwar (30 kms). Back to Mumbai/Pune
or any onward destination.
Gujarat Jyotirling Itinerary. 2 Jyotirling

Day 1 : Arrive at Veraval and Proceed to Somnath (10
kms). Visit Somnath temple and overnight at Somnath. Day
Sightseeing to other temples around (Bhalka Tirth, Prabhas
Patan Museum, Triveni Tirth, Surya Mandir, Ahilya Mandir) can
be planned.
Day 2 : Proceed to Dwarka (250 kms). Visit Dwarkadhish
Temple in the evening.
Day 3 : Visit Rukmini Devi Temple, Gomati Ghat Temples,
Nageshwar Mahadev Temple, BET DWARKA
Day 4 : Proceed back by Train from Dwarka or Jamnagar
(148 kms) for the flight
Madhya Pradesh Itinerary. 2 Jyotirling
Day 1 : Arrive at Indore (Railway station and Airport)
and Proceed to Mandu (100 kms - upto 3 hours). Visit fort in
the evening.
Day 2 : Visit Maheshwar / Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga
Temple (Full day visit). Come back to Mandu for overnight stay
or stay at Omkareshwar or move back to Indore.
Day 3 : Proceed to Ujjain (55 kms from Indore) and
visit Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple and from thereon reach
Bhopal (180 kms - 4 hours) by evening.
Day 4 : Visit Sanchi (46 kms) in the morning and do
local Bhopal Shopping / sightseeing / Boatride in the
afternoon / evening.
Day 5 : Take a flight or train back from Bhopal.
Tamilnadu. Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu is one of the Jyotirlinga Temple.
How to Visit : Rameshwaram at 160 kms (3 hours) from
Madurai is visited alongwith Meenakshi Temple in Madurai or as
a part of a Tamilnadu Itinerary.
Andhra Pradesh. Srisailam

Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga
Temples.
How to Reach : Air Hyderabad - 240 kms. Rail Nandyal on
Guntur-Hubli Route - 158 km.
Jharkhand. Vaidyanath
Vaidyanath in Deoghar in Jharkhand is one of the 12
Jyotirlinga Temples.
How to reach : Calcutta 373 kms, Giridih 112 kms, Patna
281 kms
Uttarpradesh. Vishwanath.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple at Varanasi is one of the 12
Jyotirlinga.
How to Reach : Varanasi / Mughal Sarai Station are on the
Delhi-Bagodgra Rajdhani Route and gets overnight trains from
all over the country. Varanasi is visited as a part of central
India heritage itinerary or as a standalone flight getaway
(ex-Delhi).
Uttarakhand. Kedarnath

Kedarnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga and is typically
visited as a part of Char Dham Itinerary.
